"On the heels of a newfound peace, Sri Lanka is slowly emerging from its long hiatus and becoming the next must-see destination.
Although I was aware of the country’s pristine beaches, I soon realized how little I knew of this island nation’s treasures. Within a short span of a few days, a kaleidoscope of experiences kept me mesmerized. Climbing the steps of an ancient rock fortress to see exquisite centuries’ old wall paintings, walking alongside elephants in a one-of-a-kind animal orphanage, drinking Pimm’s cocktail in a mahogany bar of a British colonial era tea estate and of course, marveling at the relentless waves of the Indian Ocean lashing against miles of sandy shoreline are only a few of them.
However, this amazing experience would not have happened without the careful planning, knowledge and expertise of the friendly staff at United Holidays. As a travel photographer seeking to capture the experience of “being there”, I couldn’t have asked for a better partner on my trip.

"My wife & I just returned from a Superb Holiday in Sri Lanka staying at Club Palm Bay. This was our first experience of a SAGA holiday and everything was excellent.
The welcome gourmet dinner was a great success, the surprises continued with a cocktail party, an amazing birthday celebration dinner for my wife and birthday cake and finishing with the farewell dinner. I understand these are very much part of the SAGA formula for making guests relax and socialize.
I would like it recorded, Mr.Fayaz Mohideen, the SAGA representative at the hotel, tireless attention to the details in all occasions should be commended. He continued to assess our needs throughout the holiday, making sure at all times we wanted for nothing. Some of the guests had challenging mobility problems, Mr.Mohideen dealt with these in a professional manner and was constantly on hand to give assistance. His knowledge of the local wild life and flora were to us a great help, we were able to describe to him various birds we had seen on our walks which he was able to identify. We were not at first assigned a room that had a lagoon view, at our first meeting we requested a move explaining we had an interest in the wildlife; this request was carried out 24 hours later with the minimum of fuss.
We were fortunate to of formed friendships with other guests at the hotel, many of whom have been on a great number of SAGA holidays before; it is their combined opinion that Mr.Fayaz Mohideen is the finest rep they have ever experienced. Without a doubt our holiday was significantly enhanced by the contribution of Fayaz.Having experienced such a wonderful time at Club Palm Bay we are eagerly anticipating booking another holiday with SAGA in the near future.
Is it at all possible for you to pass on these comments to United Holidays the company in Sri Lanka that Mr.Mohideen is contracted to."

"On 17th November I returned to Britain after a wonderful fortnight in Sri Lanka. Before leaving Colombo I completed the form on which you asked for my comments on various aspects of holiday but I felt that there was insufficient room on the form to express my views on the tour guide, Susil Pieris.
Like others in the group I was impressed with Susil’s patience, professionalism and vast knowledge of the history, flora and fauna of his country. He answered questions fully and patiently and, to the delight of the botanists, knew the Latin names of the various tropical plants. He is obviously a skilled organizer who really cares for his charges. The various minor problems that occurred, such as group members leaving items behind in the hotels, were handled patiently and quietly. Everyone felt comfortable in his care and everyone loved him.
Half century ago lived and worked in Sri Lanka for a period of three years but in just two weeks with Susil, I visited and learnt more about the island than I did my earlier time there. He is by far the best guide I have met during my numerous holidays with SAGA. You have a treasure in Colombo."
